Meeting All Academic Needs

Professional Development Credit – Professional Development Credit – This micro-credential may be eligible for continuing professional development credit in your state. Contact your state affiliate association to learn more.

Overview – The Meeting All Academic Needs micro-credential involves the following from the practitioner: ability to collaboratively facilitate and provide structures and processes which ensure implementation of a comprehensive, rigorous, and aligned curriculum; the practitioner demonstrates the ability to establish a collaborative, trusting environment and high-quality, rigorous curriculum focused on individual student growth, achievement, and continuous improvement; and the practitioner demonstrates the ability to facilitate and collaboratively implement a plan that aligns assessment and instruction with the curriculum, while also monitoring continuous student improvement.

Essential Outcomes –Meeting All Academic Needs includes the following four identified essential outcomes:

  1. Provide structures and processes that support and ensure implementation of a curriculum that is comprehensive, rigorous, and aligned.
  2. Create a collaborative, trusting environment and a curriculum focused on success for all students.
  3. Ensure curriculum materials contain student-relevant activities, account for proper sequencing of learning, and provide the necessary instructional scaffolding for ensuring student growth.
  4. Develop and implement a plan that ensures and monitors the alignment of assessment and instruction with the curriculum.

Requirements

Part 1. Overview Questions – Develop a responsive narrative that answers the following questions (1,000-word minimum):

  1. What structures and processes have you used to ensure implementation of a curriculum that is comprehensive, rigorous, and aligned throughout all grade levels and in all classrooms?
  2. As educational leader, how have you worked to create a collaborative, trusting environment to ensure implementation of a curriculum focused on success for all students?
  3. How have you ensured that curriculum materials contain student-relevant activities, account for proper sequencing of learning, and provide the necessary instructional scaffolding for ensuring student growth.
  4. What process have you used for developing a plan that ensures alignment of assessment and instruction with the curriculum?

Part 2. Skill Demonstration Product with Self-Analysis

Develop an artifact portfolio that captures the essential outcomes for the Meeting All Academic Needs micro-credential and complete the evidence self-analysis.

For each EO detail you will be required to reference an uploaded artifact(s) and guide the assessor to the specific evidence (page number, video time stamp, etc.) within the uploaded artifact(s).  An explanation of how the evidence demonstrates proficiency of the outcome detail is also required.  The practitioner must clearly and compellingly demonstrate proficiency of every detail under each essential outcome.

Part 3. Reflection and Application

Submit, in writing, a summary of your experience of Meeting all Academic Needs (500-word minimum), highlight and provide specific examples of how you applied the four components of Meeting all Academic Needs.  This could include topics covered, changes made to your school’s curriculum as you engaged in the process, and other relevant information that demonstrated competencies.  Include a reflection about the impact of this skill on your professional practice and how you will continue to apply it in the future.
