Effective Assessment


OverviewEffective Assessment Micro-Credential involves the school’s principal ability to” collaboratively develop and implement a research-based, effective assessment framework aligned to curriculum and instruction; demonstrate the ability to guide teachers to gather and analyze the proper data necessary to improve the instructional process and ensure on-going individual student’s growth. Further, the principal will demonstrate how to facilitate and distribute the ability to collaboratively develop and implement a strategic plan that ensures alignment of assessments with instruction, curriculum, and continuous student improvement. While demonstrating effective assessment skills, a great emphasis should be exhibited as critical part of instructional practices — including teachers use of multiple and varied data sources; continuous teacher improvement in teaching and learning; ability of educators to provide evidence of student growth; and confirmation essential learning outcomes were achieved by all students.

Essential OutcomesEffective Assessment includes the following three identified essential outcomes:

  1. Collaboratively develop and implement a research-based, effective assessment framework aligned to curriculum and instruction to ensure learning and provide evidence of student progress.
  2. Facilitate teacher analysis of student data to improve the instructional process and ensure student growth.
  3. Develop a plan that ensures alignment of assessments with instruction and with the curriculum.

Requirements

Part 1 – Overview Questions

Develop a responsive narrative that answers the following questions (1,000-word minimum):

  1. What is the collaboratively developed assessment framework in your school and how does it demonstrate evidence of student progress?
  2. What is your schedule and protocol for teacher teams to analyze student data from given assessments?
  3. How do you collaboratively monitor the assessment framework to ensure continuous improvement in the alignment of student assessment with your school’s curriculum and instruction?

Part 2 – Skill Demonstration Product with Self-Analysis

Develop an artifact portfolio that captures the essential outcomes for the Effective Assessment Micro-Credential and complete the evidence self-analysis.

For each EO detail you will be required to reference an uploaded artifact(s) and guide the assessor to the specific evidence (page number, video time stamp, etc.) within the uploaded artifact(s). An explanation of how the evidence demonstrates proficiency of the outcome detail is also required. The practitioner must clearly and compellingly demonstrate proficiency of every detail under each essential outcome.

Part 3 – Reflection and Application

Submit, in writing, a summary of your experience Effective Assessment from the of Instructional Leadership stack (500-word minimum) to highlight and provide specific examples of how you applied the four components of Effective Assessment Micro-Credential. This could include topics covered such as procedures and strategies used to promote the collaborative development of student assessment plans, how teacher teams effectively worked together to analyze student data from assessments and your plan to progress monitor the assessment plan and its alignment to the school’s curriculum and instruction. Include a reflection about the impact of these skills on your professional practice and how you will continue to apply them in the future.
