Exemplifying Student Centeredness

Overview – The Exemplifying Student Centeredness Micro-Credential requires the practitioner to demonstrate proficiency of all the essential outcomes and the research-based subskills defined in the details. These include the practitioner’s ability to: demonstrate best practices, behaviors, and abilities to guide and implement effective student-centeredness approaches and policies; engage in self-assessment to identify personal leadership strengths and growth areas essential to facilitate, support, and sustain student centeredness; exemplify and support self-reflection, self-assessment, and professional growth among stakeholders to improve student centeredness behaviors and best practices; and provide a personal, professional growth plan that utilizes self-assessment, self-reflection feedback and data to develop strategies, implement timelines, evaluate and monitor processes, and modify procedures focused on achieving an exemplary student centeredness environment.

Essential Outcomes –Exemplifying Student Centeredness includes the following four identified essential outcomes:

  1. Demonstrate best practices, behaviors, and abilities to guide and implement effective student-centeredness approaches and policies.
  2. Engage in self-assessment to identify personal leadership strengths and growth areas essential to facilitate, support, and sustain student centeredness.
  3. Exemplify and support self-reflection, self-assessment, and professional growth among stakeholders to improve student centeredness behaviors and best practices.
  4. Provide a personal, professional growth plan that utilizes self-assessment, self-reflection feedback and data to develop strategies, implement timelines, evaluate and monitor processes, and modify procedures focused on achieving an exemplary student centeredness environment.

Requirements

Part 1. Overview Questions

Develop a responsive narrative that answers the following questions (1,000-word minimum):

  1. What professional networking, self-assessment and professional development have you engaged to demonstrate best practices, behaviors, and abilities to guide and implement effective student-centeredness approaches and policies. What activities have been most valuable to you and why? In analyzing data and feedback, what strategies did you discovered that help to improve personal growth and student-centered outcomes.
  2. What strategies have you used to engage in self-assessment that identify personal leadership strengths and growth areas essential to facilitate, and support student centeredness. What strategies have been most valuable to you and why?
  3. What processes and procedures are in place to support self-reflection, self-assessment, and professional growth among stakeholders to improve student centeredness behaviors and best practices.
  4. What processes or data collection did you find most valuable as you created your self-improvement plan? What strategies, self-evaluation, and monitoring processes ensured you were correctly implementing best practice in exemplifying personal, professional, student centered beliefs and behaviors? Do you feel you are delivering higher-quality learning for all stakeholders because of your focused on achieving an exemplary student centeredness environment? Give a few examples.

Part 2. Skill Demonstration Product with Self-Analysis

Develop an artifact portfolio that captures the essential outcomes for the Exemplifying Student Centeredness Micro-Credential and complete the evidence self-analysis.

For each EO detail you will be required to reference an uploaded artifact(s) and guide the assessor to the specific evidence (page number, video time stamp, etc.) within the uploaded artifact(s). An explanation of how the evidence demonstrates proficiency of the outcome detail is also required. The practitioner must clearly and compellingly demonstrate proficiency of every detail under each essential outcome.

Part 3. Reflection & Application

Submit, in writing, a summary of your experience of Exemplifying Student Centeredness (500-word minimum). Provide specific examples of how you applied all components of the essential outcomes. This could include topics covered and a description of the process used to promote evidence-based strategies, including protocols for conducting self-evaluation, data analysis, observations, and providing actionable and timely feedback. This could also include testimonials from teachers, students, or other stakeholders on changes of practice that lead to higher levels of equitable practices for their students. Include a reflection about the impact on your equitable skills, mindsets (mindscapes), professional practices, and how you will continue to apply it in the future.
