Exemplifying Collaborative Leadership

Overview – The Exemplifying Collaborative Leadership Culture Micro-Credential requires the practitioner to demonstrate proficiency of all the essential outcomes and the research-based subskills defined in the details. These include the practitioner’s ability to: demonstrate collaborative leadership skills in interactions and decision-making with stakeholders; model conflict resolution and problem-solving skills; empower others as leaders; monitor and assess personal growth in the scope of collaborative leadership skills; and develop and implement a personal growth plan with strategies, implementation timelines, evaluation, and a monitoring process focused on best practices for improving collaborative leadership skills. Principals who use their leadership to encourage teachers to work together see an increase in teachers’ normative expectations of purposefully working together to improve instruction; an increase in structures and patterns of collaborative work; an increase in aligned instruction; and an increase in teachers’ collective efficacy for improving student outcomes (Goddard, Goddard, Sook Kim, & Miller, 2015).

Essential Outcomes –Exemplifying Collaborative Leadership includes the following identified essential outcomes:

  1. Demonstrate collaborative leadership skills in interactions and decision-making with stakeholders in the educational environment.
  2. Model conflict resolution and problem-solving skills utilized to promote collaborative leadership.
  3. Demonstrate skills and implementation of strategies applied to empower others as leaders.
  4. Monitor and assess personal growth in the scope of collaborative leadership skills.
  5. Develop and implement a personal growth plan with strategies, implementation timelines, evaluation, and a monitoring process focused on best practices for improving collaborative leadership skills.

Requirements

Part 1. Overview Questions

Develop a responsive narrative that answers the following questions (1,000-word minimum):

1. In what ways are you demonstrating collaborative leadership skills in interactions and decision-making with stakeholders in the educational environment?2. What strategies and skills are you using to model conflict resolution and problem-solving skills?3. In what ways are you empowering others as leaders?4. What tools and processes are you using to monitor and assess your personal growth in the scope of collaborative leadership skills?5. What processes did you use to develop and implement a personal growth plan focused on best practices for improving collaborative leadership skills?

Part 2. Skill Demonstration Product with Self-Analysis

Develop an artifact portfolio that captures the essential outcomes for the Exemplifying Collaborative Leadership Micro-Credential and complete the evidence self-analysis.For each EO detail you will be required to reference an uploaded artifact(s) and guide the assessor to the specific evidence (page number, video time stamp, etc.) within the uploaded artifact(s). An explanation of how the evidence demonstrates proficiency of the outcome detail is also required. The practitioner must clearly and compellingly demonstrate proficiency of every detail under each essential outcome.

Part 3. Reflection & Application

Submit, in writing, a summary of your experience of Exemplifying Collaborative Leadership (500-word minimum). Provide specific examples of how you applied all components of the essential outcomes. This could include topics covered and a description of the process used to demonstrate your personal collaborative leadership skills in interactions and decision-making with stakeholders in the educational environment; how you model conflict resolution and problem-solving skills; empower others as leaders; monitor, assess and plan for your personal growth in the scope of collaborative leadership skills. Include a reflection about the impact of this skill on your professional practice and how you will continue to apply it in the future.
