Driving Vision and Mission

Overview – In Driving Vision and Mission, the practitioner demonstrates their skills to: establish, clearly convey, and support a culture of ownership and responsibility that grow and sustain the vision and mission by all stakeholders; reinforce and anchor the school vision and mission in ongoing processes and practices related to decision-making; and provide a plan with immediate and long-term strategies, implementation timelines, evaluation, and monitoring process for growing and sustaining a vision and mission so stakeholders can visualize their school at peak performance. Within the school, and all aspects of leadership, the practitioner demonstrates methods of continuous improvement to achieve the vision, fulfill the mission, and promote the core values of the school. Essential OutcomesDriving Vision and Mission includes the following three essential outcomes:

  1. Establish and support a culture of ownership and responsibility that will grow and sustain the vision and mission.
  1. Reinforce and anchor the school vision and mission in ongoing processes and practices related to decision-making.
  2. Provide a plan with immediate and long-term strategies, implementation timelines, evaluation, and monitoring process for growing and sustaining a vision and mission for how the school will look like at its peak performance.

Requirements

Part 1 – Overview Questions

Develop a responsive narrative that answers the following questions (1,000-word minimum):

  1. What steps did you take to collaboratively create driving vision and mission norms for your organization and who did you included in the collaboration?
  2. How have you helped stakeholders develop needed skills for driving a vision and mission which enables them to share organizational goals and values?
  3. What protocol(s) is (are) used within your organization to assure that the vision and mission of the organization are growing and being sustained?
  4. How have you modeled effective communication of the vision and mission to stakeholders?
  5. What specific areas do you and your organization need to continue to improve in terms of communication planning and protocols for the vision and mission?

Part 2 – Skill Demonstration Product with Self-Analysis

Develop an artifact portfolio that captures the essential outcomes for the Driving Vision and Mission Micro-Credential and complete the evidence self-analysis.

For each EO detail you will be required to reference an uploaded artifact(s) and guide the assessor to the specific evidence (page number, video time stamp, etc.) within the uploaded artifact(s). An explanation of how the evidence demonstrates proficiency of the outcome detail is also required. The practitioner must clearly and compellingly demonstrate proficiency of every detail under each essential outcome.

Part 3 – Reflection & ApplicationSubmit, in writing, a summary of your experience of Driving Mission and Vision (500-word minimum); highlight and provide specific examples of how you applied all of the essential components and details of Driving Mission and Vision. This could include topics covered and how you supported the school leader and worked directly to develop a plan to improve. Include a reflection about the impact of this skill on your professional practice and how you will continue to apply it in the future.
