EAHE 511 Leading Curriculum and Assessment


Introduction - This Micro-Credential is part of the SIUC M.S.Ed in Educational Administration with Principal Endorsement Program.

Overview - The EAHE 511 Leading Curriculum and Assessment Micro-Credential requires that the practitioner demonstrate proficiency of all essential outcomes and research-based subskills defined in the details, including the ability to design and align curriculum, instruction, and assessment to clearly defined learning standards and outcomes; select and implement appropriate assessments aligned to instructional targets and curriculum expectations; analyze assessment data to determine student progress and inform instructional decisions; and communicate assessment purposes and results clearly to support instructional improvement and student learning. This Micro-Credential emphasizes fostering a results-oriented and data-literate culture in which educators and stakeholders collaboratively review, interpret, and use data to refine curriculum and instructional practices, integrate technology to support curriculum design and assessment systems, and lead collaborative improvement processes. The practitioner also provides a comprehensive plan—including strategies, implementation timelines, evaluation methods, and monitoring processes—to establish and sustain best practice in leading curriculum and assessment for continuous organizational improvement and student growth.

Course Objectives - The EAHE 511 Micro-credential includes the following 6 identified course objectives:
1. Design and align curriculum, instruction, and assessment to clearly defined learning standards and outcomes.
2. Select and implement appropriate assessments aligned to instructional targets and curriculum expectations.
3. Analyze assessment data to determine student progress and inform instructional decisions.
4. Communicate assessment results clearly to support instructional improvement and student learning.
5. Integrate technology to support curriculum design, assessment systems, and instructional decision-making.
6. Lead collaborative processes to continuously improve curriculum and assessment practices.

Requirements

Part 1 - Overview Questions
For Part 1, you will be required to complete the following:
Develop a responsive narrative that answers the following questions (1,000-word minimum):
1. How did you lead curriculum and instructional design to ensure clear alignment between standards, learning outcomes, and assessment practices?
2. To what extent do the assessments selected and implemented accurately measure the intended instructional targets and support student learning?
3. How was assessment data used to make informed instructional decisions that improve student outcomes under your leadership?
4. How clearly and effectively do you communicate assessment results to promote understanding and instructional improvement?
5. How was technology integrated to enhance curriculum design, assessment, and instructional decision-making?
6. How effectively do you lead collaborative efforts that result in measurable improvements to curriculum and assessment practices?
Part 2 - Skill Demonstration Product with Self-Analysis
For Part 2, you will be required to complete the following:
Develop an artifact portfolio that captures the essential outcomes for the EAHE 511 Leading Curriculum and Assessment Micro-Credential and complete the evidence self-analysis.
For each EO detail you will be required to reference an uploaded artifact(s) and guide the assessor to the specific evidence (page number, video time stamp, etc.) within the uploaded artifact(s).  An explanation of how the evidence demonstrates proficiency of the outcome detail is also required.  The practitioner must clearly and compellingly demonstrate proficiency of every detail under each essential outcome.  
Part 3 - Reflection and Application
Submit, in writing, a summary of your experience in completion of the EAHE 511MC (500-word minimum); highlight and provide specific examples of how you applied the essential outcome components.  This could include topics covered; challenges or obstacles you addressed in order to provide leadership in curriculum and assessment and any professional development you completed in order to improve personal skills.  Include a reflection about the impact of this skill on your professional practice and how you will continue to apply it in the future.
