Overview - The EAHE 509 School Community Relations and District Policy Micro-Credential requires that the practitioner demonstrate proficiency of all essential outcomes and research-based subskills defined in the details, including the ability to strengthen school–community relationships; analyze stakeholder diversity to guide effective communication strategies; apply research to professional communication practices; and use decision-making processes to communicate actions and outcomes to internal and external audiences. This Micro-Credential emphasizes building external partnerships, advocating for school and student needs, and managing change through collaborative leadership. The practitioner communicates clearly with multiple audiences, evaluates organizational structures and district policies that affect communication and service delivery, including outreach to underserved populations, and provides a comprehensive plan—with strategies, implementation timelines, evaluation, and monitoring processes—to establish and sustain best practice in school community relations and district policy for continuous organizational improvement.
Course Objectives - The EAHE 509 Micro-credential includes the following 6 identified course objectives:
1. Develop plans to strengthen school–community relationships that support a cohesive and inclusive school community.
2. Analyze community diversity and stakeholder relationships to determine leadership strategies for effective school communication.
3. Apply research to professional practice by identifying contextual factors that influence communication within educational organizations.
4. Use effective decision-making processes to communicate actions and outcomes to internal and external stakeholders.
5. Communicate clearly with multiple audiences using appropriate written formats to address school-related issues and situations.
6. Evaluate organizational structures and district policies to determine their impact on communication practices and service delivery, and outreach to underserved populations.
