Managing Crises and Emergency Planning

Overview – The Managing Crises and Emergency Planning Micro-Credential requires the practitioner to demonstrate proficiency of all the essential outcomes and the research-based subskills defined in the details. These include: using a collaborative process to develop and implement a crisis management and emergency plan; developing and implement an emergency and crisis management communication plan; ensuring compliance with all state emergency preparedness laws; provide access and training to stakeholders to develop proficiency in the use of emergency preparedness supplies and necessary equipment; and providing a plan with strategies, implementation timelines, evaluation, and a monitoring process to establish an environment in which everyone is accountable for the crisis and emergency planning and preparedness.

Essential OutcomesManaging Crises and Emergency Planning includes the following five identified essential outcomes:

  1. Collaboratively develop and implement crisis management and emergency plans.
  2. Collaboratively develop and implement an emergency and crisis management communication plan.
  3. Ensure compliance with all state emergency preparedness laws.
  4. Provide access and training to stakeholders to develop proficiency in the use of emergency preparedness supplies and necessary equipment.
  5. Provide a plan with strategies, implementation timelines, evaluation, and a monitoring process to establish an environment in which everyone is accountable for the crisis and emergency planning and preparedness.

Requirements

Part 1. Overview Questions

Develop a responsive narrative that answers the following questions (1,000-word minimum):

  1. What was the process you used to develop the crisis management and emergency plans?
  2. How were vital stakeholders involved in the development of the emergency and crisis management communication plan?
  3. What processes and procedures do you employ to ensure compliance with all state emergency preparedness laws?
  4. How is access and training provided to stakeholders to develop proficiency in the use of emergency preparedness supplies and necessary equipment?

Part 2. Skill Demonstration Product with Self-Analysis

Develop an artifact portfolio that captures the essential outcomes for the Managing Crises and Emergency Planning Micro-Credential and complete the evidence self-analysis.

For each EO detail you will be required to reference an uploaded artifact(s) and guide the assessor to the specific evidence (page number, video time stamp, etc.) within the uploaded artifact(s). An explanation of how the evidence demonstrates proficiency of the outcome detail is also required. The practitioner must clearly and compellingly demonstrate proficiency of every detail under each essential outcome.

Part 3. Reflection & Application

Submit, in writing, a summary of your experience of Managing Crises and Emergency Planning (500-word minimum) to highlight and provide specific examples of how you applied the five components of Managing Crises and Emergency Planning. This could include topics covered and other relevant information demonstrate competencies. Include a reflection about the impact of this skill on your professional practice and how you will continue to apply it in the future.
