Afterschool: A Key Strategy in Spending ESSER
Following the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been an unprecedented amount of support for afterschool and out-of-school time (OST) presented by the federal government. This presentation was developed in an effort to inform LEAs and affected parties of the availability ESSER funding, as well as provide guidance on how to use funding sustainably, particularly through partnering with local community-based organizations. During this training, we will explore the benefits of OST programming for youth and caretakers, barriers to engaging in OST programming, and how to utilize ESSER dollars to develop solutions and mitigate barriers. Finally, participants will be provided with peer examples of successful program implementation and additional resources to guide efforts.

This webinar will explore how to schedule time for classroom visits and deal with interruptions when "blocking off time" isn't working out. We will look at the three roles for differentiated feedback conversations that change teacher practice. We will also examine how to maximize teachers' intrinsic motivation with evidence-driven, open-ended questions. I will share best practices and case studies for building a long-term habit of visiting classrooms 500 times a year. Finally, we will cover the walkthrough myths and misconceptions that hold leaders back from having the greatest possible impact.

With an impending teacher shortage and veterans leaving the classroom at unprecedented rates, keeping our educators in the classroom has become a widespread goal for all administrators and schools. While there are many reasons why teachers leave, one evidenced-based reason that they stay is when they are provided with additional leadership opportunities within their schools. Creating distributed leadership structures in schools is one way to accomplish this. This session will explore the key principles of distributed leadership and how administrators can put these practices into action. Administrators will leave this session having explored these key principles and with an introduction for how to build, support, and sustain distributed leadership structures in their schools.
